The next link in the series of dialogues about the pension system of Kazakhstan for its 25^th anniversary was a conversation with Kadyrzhan Kabdoshevich Damitov, an economist and political figure in Kazakhstan, ex-chairman of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan (1998-1999), ex-president of the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange: KASE (2009-2013), acting as a member of the Board of Directors, independent director of Unified Accumulative Pension Fund JSC (2017-2020).

As part of the first panel session of the high-level international round table “Mandatory Funded and Mixed Pension Schemes Development Prospects”, which took place on September 28, 2023, on the topic “Population aging and pension reform”, moderated by Grigory Marchenko, the President of the International Federation of Pension Fund Administrators (FIAP) Guillermo Arthur (Santiago, Chile) Spoke.

On September 28, 2023, within the framework of the high-level international round table “ Mandatory Funded and Mixed Pension Schemes Development Prospects ”, various panel sessions and discussions were held.

Net investment income accrued to the accounts of UAPF contributors for 8 months of 2023 amounted to more than KZT1.04 trillion and exceeded the same period last year by KZT340.4 billion or 49%.

Key indicators of the UAPF as of September 1, 2023 

As of September 1, 2023, pension savings in the amount of KZT16.76 trillion were formed in individual accounts of UAPF contributors (beneficiaries). Since the beginning of the year, their increase as of September 1, 2023 amounted to KZT2.1 trillion (14.3%). Compared to the same date last year, the volume of pension savings increased by KZT2.8 trillion (20%).

A quarter of a century has passed since the implementation of the pension reform, which marked the gradual transition from state pension provision to a multi-component pension system.

On September 28, 2023, an international high-level round table "Prospects for the development of mandatory funded and mixed pension systems" will be held, organized by the Unified Accumulative Pension Fund in cooperation with the International Social Security Association (ISSA) as part of the calendar of events for the 25th anniversary of the funded pension system of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
